Kia Barlow

Kia Barlow is a Black independent author raised in Jacksonville, FL. Some of her work includes Crazy House: A Harbor Hill Novel, Kisses Down Low, and Milk & Honey. Don’t let the sweet smile fool you. She is a menace in these spicy novel streets. Readers over 18 will enjoy her tales and connections as her pen will leave you needing a fan and a boo thang to message by the end of the night. Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited has her work available for you to read any time, day or night. She is definitely an author I think is worth you cracking her art open and exploring.

 Got a question for you

1. If you could only read three books for the next 3 years, what would they be?

This is difficult because I read over 100 books in 1 year and I have to narrow it to just 3? I don't have a specific book for all 3 books. But I read at least 1 scripture from the Bible every day, there’s 1. One would have to be contemporary romance, and the third more than likely will be an erotica. Both latter would be all black characters, of course.

2. Who’s your favorite person in black history?

After watching and reading up on her story, I’d say Katherine Johnson. Once a hidden figures that made such an impact all with her brain and numbers.

3. What woman influenced your love for books the most?

My mom and aunts. I’m from a family of woman readers. Not only did my grandma, mom, and 3 of my aunts love to read, one of my aunts is who inspired me to be an author as well.

4. If you could recommend a book to your 13 year old self, what would it be?

Since I was over the kiddie books by the time I turned 13, I’d probably suggest a contemporary romance that is emerged with family oriented characters. It doesn’t necessarily have to be blood family either. A series like the Rise and Fall series by A.E. Valdez or the Orphan series by Dandridge Monroe would give me all the feels and love i was already thinking about at that age.

5. Favorite new to you author?

Nina High is growing on me. I’ve only read 2 of her books but with her characters being connected, it makes me want to read all of them so i can get all in their business.

6. Why do you write?

I write because it allows me to express myself in ways i probably wouldn’t in real life. It also allows me to live several lives and explore many different places all without spending money.

Her Latest Releases:

Milk And Honey

This summer, Mila gave her best friend, Hendrix, a gift no other man has ever gotten from her. With the holidays being the season of giving, what else could she possibly give the man who is in love with her?

This is a follow-up to story 2 in Kisses Down Low. Although you don’t
have to read it first, it is recommended to understand how these two arrived where they are in Milk & Honey.
