Kimmie Ferrell
Kimmie Ferrell is a DC based Black independent author. Whether it is a swear story between two lovers during holiday season or a one night full of steam and passion, Kimmie has something for all the girls who love black love. Currently she has six titles that are available on amazon and one that is exclusive to her website. Kimmie’s characters are each uniquely crafted with love in mind. Being a sucker for a happily ever after sent me down a rabbit hole when first purchasing my Kindle Unlimited subscription.. One of the first books that I read was Only for Tonight. This short but spicy tale of two “strangers” was exactly what I needed to escape from reality for an hour or two.
Kimmie has a way of creating these characters you just want more from. One of her more recent releases titled Phantom Affair is short read that is different than your typical boy meets girl story. All 154 pages of it was worth the read. Kimmie is the type of author that makes you clutch your pearls but swoon by the end. If you haven’t read a book by her, i encourage you to pick up any one of her released works and get to reading. She’s truly an author worth trying.
Got a question for you
1. If you could only read three books for the next 3 years, what would they be?
Bad Decisions, Good Regrets by Sherelle Green
Maestro by Aja
Mercy by Love Belvin
2. Who’s your favorite person in black history?
Leontyne Price. I did a report on her while i was in Junior High. She’s an opera singer, who is still living.
3. What woman influenced your love for books the most?
My Mother. She had no idea what type of books were in the box she gave me when i was about 12, but they were Harlequin and Silhouette books. I should not have been reading them, but it birthed my love of romance novels.
4. If you could recommend a book to your 13 year old self, what would it be?
There are way too many I would recommend.
5. Favorite new to you author?
I have two: Turtleberry and Emersyn Baylee. (Not me finna cry by this answer y’all)
6. Why do you write?
I write for the 12 year-old me who was reading Harlequin and Silhouette novels with Caucasian characters on the covers, imagining the characters as black men and women. I write for the 13 year-old me who was told she would never amount to anything by her 7th grade English teacher and then embarrassed by that same woman in front of her 9th grade crush. I write for the woman in me who is a hopeless romantic, who loves love, and needs an escape from reality.
